June 12-14

Welcome to the 1st blog post on my new site! I’m still figuring things out so bear with me.

Friday: mom drove Lailah and I to Long Island for the Star Trek convention there! The drive was a bit rough due to traffic but we made it to the hotel with no tears shed. Lailah and I wasted no time in getting into our cosplays for the 1st night of the con. See below 🙂

I dressed as an original character from my fictional Star Trek ripoff Star Journey. Lailah was Drag King Mirror Universe Spock, which looked awesome! She basically made all the pieces and I thrifted most of mine.

We went down to where the convention was happening and checked out the vendor room. I wasn’t planning to spend money right away but I wound up buying some leather shoelace decorations that say “Silly Goose”

There were a few panels happening that night but I was too tired to attend. I wound up going to bed on the early side.

Saturday: We went to Long Island Bagel Cafe for breakfast because you can’t go to Long Island without trying the bagels. They were delicious! Then we got changed and headed for the con. I dressed as “Herbert Burlesque” AKA Herbert West with tiny leather shorts and fishnets.

Mom and I went down before Lailah because she was doing her makeup. Once the elevator arrived, the doors opened and there was Jeffery Combs! I said a very excited hello and he complimented my Herbert West cosplay! We chatted a bit about Re-animator until we arrived at the lobby (A perk of the incredibly slow elevator!) He said we’ll see him at his table and he patted mom on the shoulder!

The first panel we went to was an author panel. I went to see Robb Pearlman, but also wound up discovering Jake Black who is very based too. (Click the word “based” for a link to the definition)

We also attended the Deep Space Nine Panel with Nana Visitor, Nicole DeBoer, and Jeffrey Combs! They answered some questions and talked about what they’re currently up to and what they would like to do in the future. Apparently Nana Visitor was in Chicago on Broadway! I’m going to look more into that for sure. Of course, everyone was based as hell. DS9, like all Trek, was very progressive.

I also had large pins to give out in several designs. My most popular one was “Say No to AI”, which Jeffery Combs loved!

The highlight of the Con was when I get to have a photo op with Herbert West himself! I was planning to do a Herbert West scowl in the pic but I was fan-girling (Gender neutral) too much. (Excuse the blurriness. The photo didn’t like being downloaded. I do have a physical copy)

Overall, I had a great time! I bought lots of merch, handed out lots of pins, and had oodles of fun! Feel free to email for me details!
